So I love road trips. They are so fun. My family has been taking road trips for many many years. Lately, I’ve been taking some with my boyfriend- visiting his family and my family. And these have been so fun. Road trips are a great way to see the country. Sometimes it can even be cheaper to take a road trip than a plane.
I like taking road trips because the journey is fun. The last few trips I’ve taken with my boyfriend. It’s fun just talking, singing in the car, and even just hanging out with each other. Ideally taking a road trip or two a year is good for the soul.
Here’s my tips for a successful road:
1. Pick a time to leave: For me that’s one of the most important things about a trip. Why? Because I pack last minute and I need to have a general understanding of when we are leaving. Now it doesn’t have to be a hard time. Realistically, you won’t leave at the time set, but you should have a time to at least shoot for.
2. Snacks are important: whether it is a 2 hour road trip or an 8 hour road trip you will regret not having snacks. I like to bring at least one healthy snack and a bunch of non healthy snacks. I like to bring a healthy snack because sometimes you get that gross feeling when you’ve eaten a lot of unhealthy snacks. Snacks can be fruit, chips, dried fruit/trail mix (my personal favorite), nuts, or any type of food that would make you happy.
3. Take breaks on long drives: I, personally, hate public restrooms. I used to just want to wait until we reach the location, but that is incredibly unhealthy! Use the restroom. You can stop a cleaner places. Places that typically have clean restrooms are: Wawa, Chick-Fil-A, Starbucks, and Targets.
4. Bring entertainment: my favorite form of entertainment for road trips are the Adventures in Odyssey. It is a Christian radio drama that is so good. I love it so much. And it keeps you awake. Other things that can listen to are music and podcast. Lately I have been really into podcast from entertaining to business to politics I’m all into it.
5. Remember sometimes the fun part of the trip is the journey: Remember to have fun. If you’re the copilot respect the pilot and assist when they need to.
